Hold your next gathering at one of Acton Recreation's beautiful facilities!
- ALL TOWN FIELDS ARE CLOSED UNTIL THE END OF APRIL. NO FIELD USE PERMITTED.
For all inquiries for facility rentals and field permits, please follow the steps:
Step 1: Complete the field and facility application/inquiry form found here.
Then submit via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by dropping off at our office and leaving completed form in our 24/7 drop box located in the front of the Recreation Dept. located at 50 Audubon Drive in S. Acton, or by mailing it to Recreation Dept., 472 Main Street, Acton, MA 01720.
Step 2: Your inquiry is processed in the order received as all applications are serviced on first-come basis. Once your application has been received, you should hear back from our office via email within three business days from date of receipt. Please check your spam filter if you haven't heard back. With the high volume of applications received daily, please note that this form must be completed FIRST to help us serve you better by allowing time for our department to review your request so we can give you accurate information.
Step 3: There is no fee to complete the application, once you have heard back about your inquiry, the process of payment and permit issuance is given.

How do you find out about availability and pricing for picnic or field rentals?
Please complete your inquiry via the below application form first. Once form has been completed and submitted, please allow up to three business days for a reply. Please note that rates and availability cannot be quoted or given out until we have received your application. Please view the fee schedule (link above) as a guide to pricing.
What if my date is not available?
On your application, please be sure to add an alternative date in case your preferred date is not available.
Can I also get a rain date?
We do not offer rain-dates. If you wish to have a rain-date, you will need to secure another permit for alternative date.
Can I bring my own grill or do you have a grill?
The picnic pavilion has a large shared (for all picnic pavilion rentals) picnic grill (charcoal). Only picnic rentals are permitted to bring their own grill. No outside grills are permitted.
What hours can you rent?
Permits are based on a 4 hours or full day. Time includes setup and break-down. NARA Park hours are dawn to dusk. Permits for picnic areas can be extended beyond dusk. Other parks are open from dawn to dusk.
Are the restrooms/changing rooms open?
Restrooms are open seasonally at the bathhouse pavilion during the beach season - beach hours. The Sports Complex restrooms at the north end of the Park are open late spring through early fall. Portable toilets are available for all users of the Park throughout the year at the upper and lower park areas to accommodate when restrooms are closed.
Do you have handicap parking?
There is handicap parking at both the lower and upper park areas. If you are renting at the picnic pavilion and you have a guest who needs assistance, please let the Park Ranger know so we can best assist you and your guest(s).
Can we swim when there is no lifeguard on duty?
We do not nor ever recommend swimming without a lifeguard on duty. Please note that the water at NARA is not tested outside of the seasonal beach season. Any swimming is at your own risk.
Group Swim Passes
Please complete a Field and Facilities Request Form is you wish to purchase Group Swim Passes. If you are purchasing group swim passes, they must be paid for three business days in advance - otherwise daily rate per person based on resident/non-resident cost will be charged. Approved/paid group passes are then picked up at the snack bar office at check-in. Payment for group passes (by check payable to Town of Acton) can be dropped off at our 24/7 drop-box located in the front of the Recreation Department main office located at 50 Audubon Drive in S. Acton. Payment via cash or credit card (3% convenience fee is added to credit card transactions) may be made in person during the hours of 9-3, Mon-Fri, at the Recreation Center.
Facilities at NARA Park:
SCHOOL STREET FIELD 2023
Picnic Pavilion - Accommodates up to 200 people
Field Tent - Accommodates up to 25 people
Bathhouse Pavilion - Accommodates up to 50 people
Picnic Pod - Accommodates up to 12 people
Amphitheater - Bowl can hold up to 3,000 people
Camp Acton has 7 campsites for nightly rentals. Campsites are $25/site (day or overnight). There is a limit of 10 people per site. Site 1 is an accessible site.
The Recreation Department will notify police and fire upon approval of your permit. Campfires may not be permitted if there are not favorable conditions per the Acton Fire Department.
Please note our office is not open on weekends and cannot process last-minute weekend requests.
A portable toilet is located onsite March through November.
All camper's onsite must be listed on the permit as well as all license plates.
