Massachusetts General Law (Chapter 140, Sec. 137 and 137A) and Town By-Law (Animal Control E22 through E25) require any dog six months of age and older to be licensed. All dogs must be licensed by March 1st of every year. These dog licenses are valid for a calendar year, January 1 through December 31. Failure to license your dog will result in a fine along with the fee to license the dog.

2023 Dog Licensing Fees:

• Unaltered Dog(s): $22.00
• Spayed or Neutered Dog(s): $17.00
• Late Fee (After March 1st): $25.00

You may license your dog via mail by providing the information requested on the dog license application.

The application should be accompanied with an up to date rabies certification from the veterinary office, a check or money order made payable to “Town of Acton” and a self-addressed envelope with postage paid.
