Information about the return of our Bike Share program and Safety Tips for Pedestrians and Bicyclists from the Acton Police Department
We are pleased to share that Acton's Zagster Minuteman Bike Share program has relaunched for the season. The Zagster bikes are available at two locations in Acton -- West Acton Village and the South Acton Commuter Rail Station -- as well as in downtown Maynard at Mill and Main. Bikes can be rented at one of the Zagster station locations and returned to one of the others in Acton, Maynard, Concord and Lexington. Minuteman Bike Share memberships cost $25 for the year and include unlimited rides under two hours free of charge. Annual members who wish to ride for longer than two hours would be charged $1 per hour. Non-members may rent the bikes for $1 an hour. Additionally, Acton and Zagster will mark National Bike Month in May by offering 50% discounts on annual memberships. To sign up for a membership, click here. Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Tips
In New England, walking and bicycling are never truly out of season, but with a number of serious accidents across the state this year, Town Manager John Mangiaratti and the Town of Acton wish to remind residents to take caution at the rail trail crossings and wherever you choose to walk, drive or ride.
Click here for a video produced by the Acton Police Department and ActonTV on pedestrian safety.
"The rail trail is a wonderful place for residents looking to be active and enjoy the outdoors," Town Manager Mangiaratti said. "But the crossings are busy, and residents need to take caution in those areas regardless if they are driving, cycling, or on foot. We encourage residents to familiarize themselves with these tips to stay safe and have fun, especially once the weather improves for spring."
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has several safety tips for bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike:

Motorists are also reminded not to rely solely on backup cameras. Always look before you go.
