Acton has saved some downed oak trees from the Kelley’s Corner construction project in hopes that something can be created from them and placed near where they once grew.
The goal is to support the Town’s sustainability efforts while creating stronger village centers and beautifying our landscapes.
Acton seeks proposals for projects which would transform the wood from cut trees into an object that would benefit the community. This object would then ideally be placed at or near Kelley’s corner. Examples of potential pieces include benches, signs or sculptures; however, any proposal that fits the description on the attached flyer and is in line with the community values listed is welcome.
The Town will award the selected creator(s) with a stipend of up to $1,000 and ensure their name is on the work. A trade for wood could also be arranged.
The Town will select project(s) that reflect the values of our community:
- Inclusivity
- Sustainability
- Accessibility
- History
The deadline for proposals is March 21st, 2023 by 2:00 PM EST.
