DHCD is accepting public comments on the draft guidelines for multi-family zoning requirements in MBTA communities
Last year, the Housing Choice Zoning Reform (Chapter 40A Section3A) was signed into law, which included a multi-family zoning requirement for MBTA communities; Acton is one of the 175 MBTA communities subject to this new law. When this new law was enacted, it created requirements in order for Acton to remain eligible for funding in MassWorks, Local Capital Projects Fund, and Housing Choice Initiative Programs.
The draft guidelines were released by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) that define how compliance can be achieved through local zoning.
