Fireworks and Free Concert at Acton's Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4, 2024

The Town of Acton is thrilled to announce the return of Acton's Independence Day Celebration at Nathanial Allen Recreation Area (NARA) Park. Food trucks will be onsite beginning at 5 PM with a welcoming ceremony scheduled to begin about 6:45 PM, and live music starts at 7 PM. Fireworks will start at 9:30 PM and be viewable from all areas at NARA. This is a free event and open to all. 

Complimentary shuttle buses will begin at 5 PM that will take guests to and from designated off-site parking lots located along Nagog Park Drive (100 Nagog Park Drive). It is highly recommended that guests opt to take the 10-minute walk along the lighted Town Forest Trail located at the end of Nagog Park Drive to access NARA. This is the best and quickest way to enter and exit the park during high traffic times. 

Below are a number of event details and answers to questions that will help prepare you for the event. 

1 - Event Location: NARA Park

  • The Nathaniel Allen Recreation Area (NARA) is located at 25 Ledge Rock Way in Acton, MA
  • Please Note: parking (other than accessible parking) is at a different location as shown below.

2 - Parking and Shuttles

  • Parking is available on Nagog Park Drive which is a 10-minute trail walk or shuttle ride to NARA
  • The parking is first come, first served and will be available beginning at 5 PM. The shuttle bus service begins at 5 PM as well. View a map of the shuttle route.
  • It is highly recommended that guests opt to take the 10-minute lighted Town Forest Trail located at the end of Nagog Park Drive to access the park entrance. This is the best and fastest way to enter and exit the park during high traffic times.
  • Accessible parking spaces will be available at the NARA parking lot abutting the Thomas E. Tidman Amphitheater (71 Quarry Road). These spaces will be first come, first served and require a valid handicap parking tag issued by the Commonwealth (either license plate or placard). This lot will open at 5 PM.
  • Parking is prohibited on all surrounding streets and will be marked with No Parking signs.

3 - Road Closures and Travel Restrictions 

  • Access to surrounding roads will be reduced or closed during the event.
  • Quarry Road and Ledge Rock Way will be restricted to local traffic beginning at approximately 5 PM to allow shuttle bus traffic and those with accessible parking plates or placards access. 
  • Harris Street will be one-way only (north bound) beginning at 5 PM until the end of the event. 

4 - What to Bring?

  • Bags are permitted but are subject to search. 
  • Please feel free to bring chairs, blankets, and picnics. 
  • No tents, pop-up tents, canopies, or umbrellas.
  • Please bring sunscreen and bug spray.
  • You may bring food and drink from home.
  • Alcohol is prohibited.
  • Leave hard coolers at home, but soft coolers are permitted. 
  • No glass containers.
  • No fire pits and no grilling will be allowed, per the fire department's order. 
  • No sparklers or fireworks.
  • No drones.
  • There will be trash barrels, but please consider taking home what you bring. 

5 - Will there be food?

  • Yes. There will be five food trucks on site. The food vendors will start serving around 5 PM until the fireworks begin. There will be no food or drink service after the fireworks. Food Trucks: Tandoor & Curry, Bird Nest, P&P’s Thai Food Truck, Boston Events, Kona Ice

6 - Entertainment Details?

  • Live music: “Best Friends Girl - #1 Tribute to the Cars” band will perform beginning at 7 PM. The band recreates the timeless hits of the Boston-based band The Cars, who sold more the 23 million albums and had more than 20 songs on the Billboard Top 100. A spectacular fireworks show by Pyrotechnico begins at 9:30 PM. The fireworks can be viewed from all areas of the 40-plus-acre NARA site.

7 - Is there a rain date?

  • No.

8 - Is there a first-aid location?

  • Yes. Acton Fire Department will have EMS available onsite in the event of an emergency. A first-aid station will also be located next to the NARA Amphitheater.

9 - Are there bathrooms?

  • Yes, there are portable bathrooms & accessible bathrooms located throughout the area.
